This 2022 Montserrat edition of the ECCB EC8 coins series highlights the beauty and simplicity of sea turtles.

Hopefully, this brings attention to the fact that six of the seven known sea turtle species have been identified to be at risk of extinction.

The highly attractive obverse is common to the series. The inset features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Distinctive laurels of evergreen shrubs frame the portrait on either side, nearly filling the center inset. A narrow band encircles the rim, which includes the inscriptions, "EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK. 1 oz .999 SILVER . QUEEN ELIZABETH II . TWO DOLLARS."
