Varanus komodoensis, also known as the Komodo Dragon, is the largest lizard on the planet. While it doesn’t breathe fire of fly like our favorite fictional dragons, these creatures are still worthy of our utmost fear and respect.

In addition to having venomous fangs, they’re also able to forcefully attack and kill creatures as large as a water buffalo. Fossil evidence suggests they were also able to kill the now-extinct dwarf elephant.
