The continuation in the Human Tradgedies series brings us to the 2023 issue, Black Death, which tells the story of the 1346 Asian, European and North African pandemic (the Black Plague) that claimed the lives of up to 200 million people.

Struck in high relief, this 2 ounce commemorative silver coin also features translucent epoxy and metallic UV coloring on the reverse along with a serialized edge.

The obverse of the coin displays the Niue coat of arms, legal denomination, purity and the year of issue all surrounded by a Danse Macabre – An allegorical performance symbolizing the equality of all of humanity in the face of death.
