The Smurfs first appeared in an adventure of Johan and Peewit: “The Smurfs and the Magic Flute,” published in the Belgian comics magazine Spirou by creator Peyo in 1958. In 1959, after gaining instant popularity, the Smurfs were given their first publication of the first Smurfs adventure, “Les Schtroumpfs Noirs.” These popular blue creatures are known for living in mushroom-shaped houses in the Smurf Village located in a forest. There are 99 and 1 Smurf characters, including Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Gargamel, Azrael and many more. The Smurfs franchise began as a comic and has expanded into featured films, a Smurfs TV series, a Smurfs music album, an official Smurfs store, and so much more.
